Tiger Woods is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, Kultida Woods, who passed away on Tuesday. The golf legend shared a touching tribute on social media, honoring the woman he called his “greatest supporter” and “biggest fan.”
“My Mom was a force of nature all her own,” Woods wrote. “Her spirit was simply undeniable. She was quick with the needle and a laugh.” He credited her unwavering love and encouragement for his many achievements, adding that she was adored by his two children, Sam and Charlie. Woods expressed his gratitude for the support and prayers from fans and requested privacy for his family during this difficult time.
Kultida Woods, a native of Thailand, was a constant presence in her son’s life, often seen cheering him on at major tournaments. Just last month, she was spotted at a Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) event, smiling and clapping as Tiger sank a crucial putt.
Her influence extended beyond the golf course. She stood by Tiger during his highly publicized 2010 press conference, where he confessed to marital infidelities. Kultida’s unwavering support during that challenging moment highlighted her strength and dedication to her family.
Kultida also had a hand in one of Tiger’s most iconic traditions—wearing red and black on tournament Sundays. Woods once joked that his mom believed red was his “power color” as a Capricorn. “She was always right,” he quipped in a recent TV interview.
The loss of Kultida comes nearly two decades after the death of Tiger’s father, Earl Woods, in 2006. The Woods family has asked for understanding and privacy as they navigate this heartbreaking time.
Tiger ended his tribute simply: “Love you, Mom.”
