Access and identity management company Okta has announced it’s letting go of 180 employees this week. This move comes just over a year after the company cut 400 jobs in February 2023 and another 300 positions earlier that same year.
While Okta hasn’t shared its current employee count, it’s estimated the company had around 5,300 workers before this latest reduction. According to an SEC filing, the layoffs affect roughly 3% of its workforce.
In a statement, a company spokesperson explained the decision: “We’re eliminating about 180 roles to shift resources toward new growth areas. We’re deeply grateful to our departing colleagues for their contributions and are committed to supporting them during this transition.”
Despite the cuts, Okta’s financials seem steady. In December, the company reported third-quarter revenue of $665 million, a 14% increase from the previous year.
This isn’t the first time Okta has restructured its workforce, but it’s clear the company is focusing on adapting to changing priorities. For now, employees affected by the layoffs are being offered support as they navigate this next chapter.
